Interview: Cleo Parker Robinson & Viviana Basanta
Acclaimed Denver choreographer Cleo Parker Robinson and visiting artist Viviana Basanta visited with Susan Gatschet before their premiere performances of “Four Journeys” at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
On Wednesday September 22, host Susan Gatschet welcomed in-studio guests Cleo Parker Robinson and Maesta Amalia Viviana Basanta who will be presenting “Four Journeys,” a music and dance spectacular at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
Viviana Basanta, a Mexico cultural icon and Director of the National Folklorico Ballet of Mexico. Basanta has been commissioned to develop The Four Journeys, a ballet about the four root cultures of Mexico: Indigenous, Spanish, African, and Asian. The World Premiere will be September 25 and 26, at The Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
In addition to “Four Journeys,” the show includes “Freedom Dance” which features Denver’s own jazz icon Dianne Reeves, performing LIVE with Cleo in their first collaboration! These two Kennedy Center award winners from Denver finally are working together as Cleo is choreographing to Dianne’s “Freedom Dance.” It’s a beautiful piece! more info
