Groove Jazz Rendezvous — Smooth & Cool Yule

Join the Smooth and Cool Yule with Adam Morgan on Christmas Eve at 8 pm on KUVO.

First, it’s a gift selection of holiday contemporary jazz from Fourplay, Boney James, Dave Koz, Brian Culbertson, and several of their artist friends with jazz and vocal tracks of the season.

Then, at 9 pm we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the release of the Grammy Award-winning album, “Handel’s Messiah; A Soulful Celebration.” It was the first new arrangement of Handel’s music since Mozart’s update on The Messiah. This time it was for contemporary audiences with an artist lineup including Dianne Reeves, Al Jarreau, the Yellowjackets, Stevie Wonder, and Take 6 among the talents, and an all-star choir singing the Hallelujah chorus directed by Quincy Jones.

If you haven’t heard it, it’s time you did, and if you have heard it, it’s time to re-enjoy it again with its multiple genres of African American music from jazz and gospel to soul and spirituals.
