Swing Je T’aime: Friday, June 6th @ 5:00 PM

This swingin’ Colorado Gypsy Jazz group is a favorite for both dancers and Jazz cognoscenti, specializing in Paris-style swing.  Aaron Walker – guitar, Laura Gerhard – vocals, Anthony Salvo – violin, Jeremy Wendelin – reeds, Brian Dean – piano, Jason Malmberg – bass.

The Denver Jazz Club Youth All Stars: Tuesday, June 10th @ 7:00 PM

Ed Cannava directs the Youth All Stars from the Denver Jazz Club on this month’s edition of KUVO’s High School Collegiate Series.  The group’s repertoire features traditional standards and spirituals, instrumentals and vocals.  Catch the stars of tomorrow today!

The Freddy Rodriguez Quintet:Tuesday, June 17th @ 1:00 PM

An honest-to-goodness Denver Jazz legend, saxophonist Freddy Rodriguez Sr. has lead bands at the storied El Chapultepec club for over thirty years. He will be honored with a tribute  at City Park Jazz later this month.  Freddy Sr. – tenor sax, Andre – trumpet, Freddy Jr. – piano & vocals, Andrew Hudson – bass, Tony Black – drums.

  

The Tenia Nelson Quartet: Wednesday, June 18th @ 1:00 PM

Among the better-kept secrets on the Colorado scene, composer and DPS schoolteacher Tenia Nelson has a piano voice that is unique and soulful.  Her band features some some of the standouts from her generation of young music professionals: Gabriel Mervine – trumpet, Tenia Nelson – piano, Dave Solzberg – bass, Manuel Lopez – drums.

Venus Cruz with Greg Tanner Harris: Thursday, June 26th at 10:30 PM

In addition to being a fine improvisational singer Venus Cruz also hosts KUVO’s Jazz Odyssey Wednesdays from 10 PM until midnight.  Her friendship with Greg Harris goes back years, and  musical chemistry between the two is readiuly apparent.  Venus Cruz – vocals, Greg T.
