Before the Estes Valley was the entry way to Rocky Mountain National Park, it was a summer gathering spot for the Cheyenne Arapaho peoples. This weekend (Sat. Jan. 13 – Sun. Jan. 14) , the first-ever First Peoples Festival will be held at the Estes Park Events Complex, 1125 Rooftop Way, Estes Park, CO 80517. It’s described as a “celebration of Indigenous culture, art, music, language, oral traditions, and much more.”

Northern Cheyenne tribal member and Allenspark trading post owner Nico Strange Owl is helping organize the event. She visited The Morning Set to preview the event.
