Afro-Cuban Folkloric Music Lecture Presentation and Performance Saturday October 12th, 8-10 pm $15 Resident dancer Kimberly Miguel Mullen will present her ethnographic research in Cuba, followed by a mini-rumba dance workshop and performance lead by Iré Elese Abure and guest drummers.
Corrupter
Corrupter was started by drummer Mark Serratoni and percussionist Rob Kettelson to explore Afro-Cuban Jazz and Funk from the '60s and '70s. Employing a rotating cast of some of Denver’s best jazz players, they put their own spin on the music of Mongo Santamaria, Wayne Shorter, Thelonious Monk and Maceo Parker. At La Cour, they believe Live Jazz should be as accessible as possible. As always there is no cover charge.
Moderno Afro Cubano Quintet
Moderno is a Latin jazz quintet that brings together some of Colorado’s finest players for a brilliant exhibition of Afro-Caribbean traditions, including the music of Cuba, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and others.
