In this special show, The Sax Syndicate will bring to life the arrangements from Dave Pell’s Prez Conference, where Lester Young’s solos are harmonized, with three tenor saxophones and one baritone saxophone, in the style of Supersax. Adding an extra layer of brilliance to the performance, vocalist Elyse Jeanette will be featured, lending her captivating voice to this celebration of jazz history.

The Sax Syndicate:

Hailing from diverse musical backgrounds and united by their shared passion for the saxophone, The Sax Syndicate is a dynamic and electrifying octet composed of a five-piece big band style saxophone section accompanied by a full rhythm section. Inspired by the iconic group, Supersax, The Sax Syndicate combines their individual virtuosity to create a seamless blend of harmonies, exhilarating solos, and infectious rhythms. Their repertoire includes jazz compositions and arrangements set in five-part harmony written by the likes of Gordon Goodwin, Benny Carter, Bob Mintzer, and many more.

Elyse Jeanette:

Elyse Jeanette, born and raised in Denver, has been an active presence in the city’s music landscape since 2017, collaborating with various artists like Emma Mayes & the Hip, Kid Astronaut, Teresa Suydam, and +Ultra. Her musical journey, rooted in church starting at the age of 7, then honed at the Denver School of the Arts through her later childhood and adolescence, reached new heights with a degree in Music Industry Studies from the University of Colorado Denver. Her vocal versatility shone on a national stage, traveling the country with an award-winning a cappella group. Elyse teaches at Swallow Hill Music, writes songs for her original project Jeanette//Streight, and leads worship at the River of Life Church in Lakewood.
