Foundry Quartet are the ultimate originals. A democratic unit with a clear vision and a refusal to conform to convention. Foundry was formed last year after all of the members found themselves together in an incarnation of ESQJ (Equity And Social Justice Quartet) for a one-off gig and recording session. The chemistry was undeniable and the group decided to get together for a session to explore a broader improvised palette. Foundry’s take on free improvisation turned out to be refreshingly grounded in composition and form.
