The Fantabulous Flamenco Duo featuring Maestro Miguel Espinoza on guitar and symphony cellist Dianne Betkowski. Maestro Espinoza twists jazz, flamenco, Cuban and classical Indian musical forms into intoxicating journeys that thrill audiences. Described by Guitar Player Magazine as “mesmerizing,” Miguel Espinoza has recorded and performed with Bela Fleck, Kai Eckhardt, Kitaro, Tuck and Patti, Rita Moreno, and Ben Vareen. Gracefully balancing tradition and innovation, he blends flamenco with Northern Indian percussion, Latin jazz, and classical flavors to create an exotic, intoxicating musical elixir—one that is as sonically exciting as it is emotionally moving.
With Maestro Espinoza is Dianne Betkowski the marvelous classical cellist that has performed with many world-class symphonies including the Utah and St. Louis and Honolulu Symphonies. Dianne’s impeccable classical training creates a beautiful lyrical melodic ensemble approach that compliments and underscores the guitar work of Maestro Espinoza. She also possesses excellent improvisational freedom that meets the fiery vitality of Flamenco. This duo is one of my favorites because it brings forth the lyrical beauty and clarity of Flamenco.
