Taylor Clay’s and Daryl Gott’s original compositions are a window into the past and future of modern jazz. Filled with rich harmonies and infectious melodies, their music expresses the world around them while also displaying a love for the tradition and heritage of Black American Music. After playing together regularly for over four years, Taylor and Daryl have finally come together to display their original works in a unique quintet setting including some of Denver’s finest musicians.
Taylor Clay was born in Brooklyn, NY and began his musical journeys at the age of 13, He went on to study at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY. After completing his degree in Music Performance in 2012, he moved to Colorado to attend the University of Northern Colorado as a graduate student and teaching assistant. Taylor currently lives in Denver, Colorado and works as a busy freelance musician.
Saxophonist and composer Daryl Gott was born and raised in Denver. Growing up in a musical family, Daryl was exposed to music and specifically jazz at a young age. He graduated from Denver School of the Arts and continued his formal music education at the City College of New York where he studied with saxophonist Jon Gordon. Daryl is established in Denver’s jazz scene as an in-demand sideman and a dynamic bandleader.
