Much like Art Blakey bringing young musicians to the big stage for on-the-job training with the master, this series was created to give young musicians the chance to showcase their talents while learning from a master musician. Apprenticeship while getting paid. In tribute to Art Blakey and the time-honored tradition, Stafford Hunter; veteran of the New York jazz scene will lead these young musicians in featuring the music of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. Probably with a few changes from the various influences and experiences of these young musicians. Come be a witness. Support these post-high school musicians as they tackle this challenging but exciting music. On-the-job training at its best!

Stafford Hunter: Multi-Grammy nominated trombonist. Performed and/or record with Clark Terry, McCoy Tyner, Roy Hargrove, Amy Winehouse, Lenny Kravitz, Orrin Evans, Captain Black big band, Steve Turre, and a 21 years member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra
