Chicano Humanities and Arts Council (CHAC) and The Armory Performing Arts Center Present “Remembrance, Community and Celebration” a Day of the Dead Art Exhibit & Community Fiesta.

CHAC is proud to partner with The Armory Performing Arts Center to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos! “Remembrance, Community and Celebration” features artists from the local community and CHAC Gallery. This event is free and open to the public. This community event features; face painting, sugar skull decorating, food and drink, live entertainment, local vendors, poetry reading, a community altar, a cash bar, Aztec dancing, a Day of the Dead art exhibition, family activities, and more!

Dia de Los Muertos is an ancient Mexican celebration that honors loved ones who have passed on. As we place their favorite items on altars, cook their special foods, eat Pan de Muerto, and decorate calaveras, we celebrate our loved ones who have passed on and express our pride in the traditions they passed down to us.

CHAC is one of the original nonprofits in Colorado that helped nurture and establish Dia de Los Muertos in Denver. For over fifty years CHAC has celebrated Dia de Los Muertos and helped pave the way for the abundance of  Dia de Los Muertos celebrations state-wide.

CHAC Gallery and The Armory Performing Arts Center are so grateful for the award of $7,200 they received from BCAC to bring “Remembrance, Community and Celebration” a Day of the Dead community event and art show to the Brighton community this year.

CHAC Gallery & Cultural Center was founded in 1978 by a group of visual and performing artists. The organization was established as a place where Chicano/Latino artists were provided with a venue to explore visual and performance art and promote and preserve Chicano/Latino culture through the expression of the arts. The Armory Performing Arts Center is the premier venue for entertainment and cultural arts in the northeast metro region.
