Fresh off their US tour and in the wake of their debut single release on Monk Music, Daruma returns to the Nocturne stage for a homecoming performance. Daruma’s music has been featured on TV and radio nationwide, and takes audiences from deep grooves to intimate ballads to Coltrane-inspired swing. Daruma reinterprets the jazz aesthetic for the 21st century and crosses it with progressive rock, film music, and neo-soul in a genre-bending original sound rooted firmly in the jazz tradition.
Daruma is an ambitious new project featuring some of Denver’s finest young talent. Members of the ensemble have performed with leading voices in contemporary music ranging from Billy Childs, Rufus Reid and Tia Fuller to the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Dave Kikoski, Joe Farnsworth, Maurice Brown, Adam Deitch, and Big Gigantic. They’ve played at notable venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the Blue Note Amsterdam, and Birdland, and have won ASCAP and Downbeat awards.
Daruma is Gabriel Mininberg (sax), Shane Dähler (drums), Max Moore (piano), Zach Rich (trombone), Hunter Roberts (bass).
