Motown and More, featuring Cleo Parker Robinson Dance!
From The Temptations to Lizzo, DGMC (Denver Gay Men’s Chorus) celebrates a half-century of iconic African American pop music that has its roots in the distinctive sounds of the Motor City and now permeates every genre of popular music today. The concert event will feature the first-ever collaboration with world-renowned Cleo Parker Robinson Dance. The Cleo II ensemble will perform three world premiere works, choreographed by Ms. Parker Robinson specifically for this concert.
In addition, Motown and More will feature the Colorado premiere of “The Seven Last Words of the Unarmed,” by Joel Thompson. The last words of seven unarmed black men – including Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, and Eric Garner – each killed by police or authority figures, inspired the lyrics for this piece. Aurora’s Rangeview High School Choir will join DGMC for this powerful multi-movement choral piece.
