“Our theme for the residency show this month is Black love and exploration,” JoFoKe says. “We are planning to investigate love on all sides. From friendships to tough love to romantic love or just love for all mankind, we’re looking at it from different scenarios and vantage points. The inspiration behind that is my single coming out on February 15. It’s really a conversation that might be had on February 13 or 15, but certainly not on the 14th. It is really talking about how that loving feeling isn’t there anymore. It’s called ‘The Butterflies at Dusk,’ and the first line says, ‘A kiss goodbye is the only time our faces touch,’ and then the story goes on from there.” Quote from the 2/1/24 Westword article by Toni Tresca
Same Cloth is a genre-bending, Denver-based, Black woman-led band that uses their peculiarities to share meaningful art. Same Cloth performs original music and creative cover arrangements that, along with JoFoKe’s charisma and vocal stylings, are brought to life by Solomon Chapman on keyboards, Will Gaines on bass, Callum Bair & James Tré on guitar and Matt Campbell on drums. Same Cloth combines the diverse traditions of Black American Music to create an energetically eclectic and emotionally elevating live music experience.
In addition to their monthly “Last Saturdays” residency at one of Downbeat Magazine’s “Top 100 Jazz Clubs in the World”, Dazzle Denver, and an impressive list of past performances, Same Cloth’s debut single, “No Good” has garnered over 100k organic streams across digital music platforms and, in December 2022, became a featured “Local 303” selection playing on 13 radio stations throughout Colorado’s front range.
Same Cloth’s sophomore single, “Butterflies Die” is expected in late 2023. Their public performance schedule, music, social media, and YouTube are accessible via Linktr.ee/SameClothBand.
