The Democracy is an energetic modern jazz quintet that features all original music by its members, who have collaborated with many great artists in Colorado and beyond. The quality of compositions from this ensemble is outstanding. They are deeply and formally trained in both classical music and jazz as well as steeped in contemporary music forms. This gives them a vast compositional range and the music is quite frankly, beautiful. Because the compositions are their originals, it is performed with passion and artistic conviction.

The Democracy was awarded a Pathways to Jazz grant to record its self-titled debut album, recently released its second album, “Second Term” and has been entertaining audiences in venues and festivals since its formation in 2016, constantly evolving with forward-looking compositions and exciting interaction among its members.
