Half Maxx is a dynamic funk-jazz-rock quartet based in Denver. Formed by musicians who convene regularly at the city’s funk jam sessions, the band brings a high-energy approach to jazz, with deep roots in funk, soul, and classic rock music. The band’s name is a play on the names of the members – half of the band members are named Max, half are not. With a repertoire that spans from Jimi Hendrix to Freddie Hubbard, Janet Jackson to John Mayer to Rick James, and a growing number of original compositions, Half Maxx is dedicated to high levels of musicianship and bringing the groove back to the funk/jazz fusion genre. They can make you sit quietly at the edge of your seat just as well as they can get you up and dancing – sometimes in the same song.
