Gwendolyn Parney is a multi-instrumentalist and composer graduating this year from the Denver School of the Arts. She began playing piano at the age of 4, and since then has picked up the clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, flute, and bassoon. Currently the lead alto saxophonist for the Downbeat-winning DSA Jazz Workshop Orchestra and principal clarinetist of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra, Gwen has played with groups ranging from the Colorado All-State Orchestra, All-State Jazz, and All-State Band ensembles to classical chamber groups and small combos through the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts. As a testament to the breadth of styles she has had the opportunity to study throughout her time in high school, Gwen will be playing a wide-ranging selection of original compositions and tunes (written from 1917 to 2023) across alto saxophone, clarinet, and piano. Alongside some of her closest friends and collaborators, Gwen is incredibly honored to present this expansive recital at Dazzle, a club that has inspired so much of her artistic growth over the years.
