Venezuelan bassist and composer Gonzalo Teppa presents his new quintet performing original music from his latest album Away From Home. Each composition written by Teppa is inspired by his family and his native country, drawing from the musical wells of contemporary jazz, Latin American music (Venezuelan, Brazilian, and Afro-Cuban), ballads, swing, blues, free jazz, and more. Teppa recorded the album in June 2019 after winning the Pathways To Jazz Grant in 2018.

Away From Home marks his sixth album as a leader. Teppa obtained his Bachelor of Music and Master of Jazz Studies degrees at CU Boulder and is currently a faculty member at UW Laramie.
