Vocalist Leonard E. Barrett Jr. celebrates the life and music of jazz icon Jon Hendricks at this Gift of Jazz Centennial concert.
Backed by a spirited trio, Leonard Barrett Jr. will explore the many sides of one of jazz’s most beloved vocalists on the occasion of his centenary.
Perhaps best known for his association with the popular vocal trio Lambert Hendricks and Ross, Jon Hendricks was one of the originators of vocalese, and considered one of the greatest scat singers in jazz history.
Coming off a successful Nat King Cole portrayal performance, the talented Leonard Barrett Jr. will tackle the spirited and energetic music of this vocal icon while telling the story of his musical life in this one-night-only event presented by The Gift of Jazz.
