Intent on capturing the classic nostalgia of autumn, Ishka Phoenix and Enmanuel Alexander enchant the stage with tender power. This guitar/vocal duo taps in to the mystery of midnight with wistful jazz ballads referred to as “torch songs,” which are sentimental tunes that express lost love and poetic melancholy. With moody standards such as Black Coffee, Tenderly, Nature Boy, and more, Ishka and Enmanuel captivate and immerse their audience in velvety vintage vibes.
Enmanuel Alexander is a Denver musician with a passion for amplifying and elevating Black musicianship throughout Colorado. Through his weekly residency at Meadowlark Bar, he brings the community together with “Off the Cuff,” an interactive improv session that showcases the incredible talent of Black and Brown musicians and artists from the Denver metro area and beyond.
Ishka Phoenix is a dynamic vocalist born and raised in Denver. Daughter of local alto sax player John Mader, Ishka was brought up on a vast array of eclectic music early on, and naturally developed an insatiable taste for adventure in all her creative pursuits.
