For this special May series, Nocturne welcome’s saxophonist Daryl Gott back to the stage as he explores the musical legacy of the great Paul Desmond. Paul will be joined by Alex Heffron (guitar), Seth Lewis (bass), Brian Claxton (drums). Paul Desmond (1924-1977) was an American alto saxophonist with a highly melodic and lyrical style of improvisation and a most unique and warm tone, often described by himself as a “dry martini.” Most widely known for his work with the Pianist Dave Brubeck’s Quartet and his hallmark composition Take Five, Desmond enjoyed a very successful career. During his time outside of the Brubeck Quartet, Desmond often played and recorded in different lineups with guitarists Jim Hall and Ed Bickert. Join us for an exploration of all things Desmond Thursday nights throughout the month of May!
