Throughout the lineage of jazz music, certain songs have become “standards.” “Standards” are compositions that are commonly known by listeners and frequently played by musicians (many of which originated in Broadway shows or motion pictures). Songs such as Bronislaw Kaper’s “On Green Dolphin Street”and Jerome Kern’s “All Things you Are,” are examples of standards. These songs have become timeless for good reason and will always hold a special place in the jazz world. However, there have also been a plethora of jazz compositions that have not become standards but offer just as much beauty and creative spirit. Daryl Gott’s “Deep Cuts” performance is dedicated to exploring these lesser known vehicles, including Phil Markowitz’ “Sno’ Peas” and John Coltrane’s “Aisha.” Please join us for a night of alluring music!
