This month’s theme is “Finding a Home”, and features three musicians and a fabric artist/dancer, all of whom have very personal stories to share.

Labeled a “Barrio Bruce Springsteen,” Angel Corsi focuses his storytelling on lookin’ out for the “little guy” with the same “Boss” gravitas but from a different cultural perspective. Angel’s Folk-Noir style encapsulates the Noir Blanche films and modern Folk music, never presenting clear-cut heroes or villains, only complex characters in complex situations and his music deals with his personal struggles with race, class, and identity, as well as universal examinations of love.

Kristen Poppe started quilting at 18 after watching her mother quilt for years. This interest turned to a passion after her mother passed away from breast cancer, and quilting felt like a way to stay connected to her. Her quilts have been shown in 5 states and online, in more than a dozen art shows. When not sewing, Kristen is dancing or teaching tap, ballet, Irish, flatfooting, and contemporary dance.

Gonzalo Teppa is a much beloved and in demand bassist who came to the United States from Venezuela a few years ago and has found a home in the Denver area jazz scene.

Antonio Lopez is a Colorado native of indigenous descent. Born and raised in Alamosa and now residing in Longmont, he grew up steeped in the Chicanx culture of southern Colorado. His music is like an onion, each layer revealing more. His adept guitar work and composition skills are never used in a showy way but rather like the spices in a home-cooked meal. The result is a feast of emotions that delight the listener.
