The Brothers of Brass has its roots in the chance meeting and collaboration of two street performers on The 16th Street Mall in Denver, Colorado. One day in April of 2015 when Khalil Simon and Armando Lopez both set out busk with their street acts Armando heard Khalil’s tuba from down the street and approached him hoping to add some much-needed bass to his sound. They ended up playing together and collaborated whenever Khalil and the Brothers of Brass were in Denver over the next year and a half. Khalil eventually moved to Denver and since then Brothers of Brass have grown to be a full-sized brass band. Over the past few years, the band has cultivated a reputation as one of the premier busking acts in the country by following around large jam bands and igniting raging impromptu dance parties on streets and parking lots from coast to coast. The Brothers of Brass have played some of the finest stages in Denver including The Bluebird Theatre, The Gothic Theatre, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, and Red Rocks! With influences ranging from R&B to southern brass and psychedelic jam rock to trap hip hop, Brothers of Brass boasts a wide musical lexicon with a little something for everyone!
