“Spirit at the Mountaintop”

A HOLLYWOOD BLACK FILM FESTIVAL FEATURE DOCUMENTARY

Take a holiday shopping break for a free screening of “Spirit at the Mountaintop” at History Colorado. A double Emmy-nominated feature documentary, it’s a survey history of African Americans in Denver through the legacy of Shorter Community AME Church complete with inspirational gospel music and experiencing again notable community leaders.

Among them are Tuskegee Airman Omar Blair  1st African American President of the Denver Public Schools Board; Elvin Caldwell, 1st African American elected to Denver City Council; Rachel Noel offered the School Board Resolution to desegregate Denver Public Schools and 1st African American elected to the University of Colorado Board of Regents.

A community conversation follows the screening with Terri Nelson Founding Librarian Blair Caldwell African American Research Library and Adam Morgan, Producer/Director and Host KUVO JAZZ Radio, moderated by Terri Gentry History Colorado. Additional insights from Dr. Jeanette Patterson, Executive Director, Lincoln Hills and Rev. Dr. Timothy Tyler, Shorter Community AME Church.
