Voter registration DRIVE THRU in Five Points!
We need EVERYONE to pledge to find one person who is not registered to vote and bring them to Welton St.
There will be FREE FOOD from Welton Street Café for EVERYONE, GIVEAWAYS & SPECIAL GUESTS!
PARTNERSHIPS: Be Woke.Vote is partnering with Five Points Improvement District, City & County of Denver, NAACP Denver Branch, Urban League, Kia, brother Jeff’s Cultural Center, Denver Police Department, Urban League Young Professionals, Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado, New Era, Omega Psi Phi (Chi Phi Chapter), KUVO JAZZ 89.3 fm, THE DROP303, 3 Deep Productions, That Party Bus, Athena Project, @IamDetour, Welton Street Cafe, Spangalang Brewery, AQUAhydrate and Star Dvsn to encourage residents of Denver, especially young people, to register to vote, sign-up to be a poll worker, and ensure they are counted in the census with a drive-through voter registration event.
SPECIAL GUESTS: Muralist Thomas Evans, Roxanne Avent Taylor (Producer, FATALE) and Deon Taylor (Director, BLACK AND BLUE).
PERFORMANCES: No Enemies Brass Band, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Company, Platinum Divaz Dance Company and Spoken Word by Kerrie Joy.
ART: World famous street artist DETOUR (Thomas Evans) is unveiling a mural wall this week at 605 E 26th St in Denver to commemorate the initiative.
BE SAFE: Health and safety procedures for COVID will be in place – masks and social distance required, and security and lots of volunteers on site.
ABOUT BE WOKE: Be Woke.Vote is a nonpartisan initiative co-founded by Director Deon Taylor (FATALE,BLACK AND BLUE, THE INTRUDER and TRAFFIK) and Producer Roxanne Avent Taylor, both of Hidden Empire Film Group. Be Woke.Vote is a voter engagement program committed to engaging people of color and features interviews with major celebrities and newsmakers from entertainment to pop culture. The primary objective is to mobilize historically disengaged people of color into the electoral process. We want to impact the underserved and underrepresented through innovative programming and campaigns.
