Celebrate local music while supporting your library!
The Backyard Concert Series, presented by Amazon, returns for its 11th year this summer with three exciting in-person shows. Grab the family and meet new neighbors! You don’t even have to pack your picnic basket – we’ll have food and beverages available for purchase at a minimal price, including sandwiches from Nosh Catering, frozen treats from Em’s Ice Cream, wine from The Infinite Monkey Theorem and beer from Great Divide.
The Bands:
June 9—The Reminders — A rare and remarkable musical duo with undeniable magical chemistry, The Reminders transcend the bounds of expectation to uplift and entertain. They seamlessly blend razor-sharp rhythms and raw, soulful vocals with reggae-tinged hip-hop beats to highlight their relevant and inspiring messages. The couple shares a partnership in both music and life as Samir and Aja have been married for over a decade. The Reminders performed at the 2021 Backyard Concert Series, and this will be their second time making music in the Anythink Wright Farms backyard.
July 14—The Mañanas — Denver-based power pop/garage rock sensation, The Mañanas, are playing the Backyard Concert Series for the first time this summer. The Mañanas’ sound has been compared to a mix of the Strokes, Weezer, and Arctic Monkeys. Packed with fun choruses, jangly guitars and low-yet-also-hi-fi production, their music is sure to captivate anyone who loves an upbeat, carefree sound.
August 11—King Cardinal — Hailed by Marquee Magazine for their “excellently crafted Americana” and Westword for their “raw, gut-wrenching emotion,” Denver’s King Cardinal push raw roots rock into lush, sonically daring territory with hints of cosmic country and delicate folk. Jonah Wisneski, one of the band’s guitar players, has performed solo at Anythink’s Civic Saturday and Illuminate the Night events, and this is King Cardinal’s first performance at the Backyard Concert Series.
Doors open at 5:30 pm; the show is from 6:30-8:30 pm
The concert will take place rain or shine. Parking is limited, and we encourage everyone to carpool or use alternative methods of transportation like public transit, bicycles, or ridesharing apps
Not only is this a fun, free Friday night – it’s also a fundraiser for the Anythink Foundation. All proceeds from this year’s Backyard Concert Series will go toward making the performing arts more accessible to our community in 2024. From free passes to local performances and immersive theater productions at a local Anythink, the money raised will allow us to bring this critical art form right here to Adams County residents of all ages and backgrounds. Supporters can donate in person or online.
What can I bring to the Backyard Concert Series?
—Family & Friends – All ages are welcome!
—Dogs – Woof!
—Lawn chairs and blankets – Get comfy!
—Food – Just remember that we’ll have sandwiches available for purchase.
What should I leave at home? No outside alcohol is allowed. In order to continue hosting these fun, family-friendly events, we must strictly enforce this policy. Instead, please enjoy beer and wine from our vendors available on-site for purchase – and for a great cause! Guests must be 21 years or older with ID to purchase alcohol.
What else? Inspired by the mySummer 2023 theme, “Let’s Play,” local artist Jessica Moon Bernstein-Schiano crafted “Animal Lore,” a card deck exclusively available when you register for mySummer at your local Anythink. 10 of the artworks featured in “Animal Lore” were transformed into limited edition signed prints that are available for sale this summer at the Backyard Concert Series and online. 50% of proceeds from print sales will be donated to the Anythink Foundation.
