Amelie Quartet’s show ‘Tango without Borders/Tango sin fronteras” travels the world tracing the popularity and development of tango music from the twenties to the present.
The concert begins with early traditional tangos from Argentina, Uruguay and Panama which quickly made their way to and inspired new interpretations of the form throughout Europe. Returning to the American continent, you’ll learn of a decades-long tango connection between Buenos Aires and Mexico City. Finally, we’ll perform songs bridging both U.S. borders, and conclude the evening with several thrilling contemporary pieces from tango’s original homeland.
Amelie Quartet has been heard extensively at Colorado venues such as Dazzle, Cafe Sole, Swallow Hill, Boulder International Film Festival, Broomfield Auditorium, Boulder Library Concert Series, Loveland Museum, Longmont Museum, Longmont Gay Pride Festival, Clyford Still Museum, Mercury Cafe, Louisville Center for the Arts, Niwot Jazz Festival… and of course, The Muse! Their self-titled CD ‘Amelie Quartet’ was released in 2019. This concert is generously funded by a grant from Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission.
Covid Requirements: Muse is asking guests to wear masks inside at all times except while actively eating or drinking. Muse will also require guests to be vaccinated or show proof of a negative test three days before a performance. Thank you!
