The Denver Philharmonic Orchestra’s fifth season of DPO with a Twist launches on Lunar New Year’s Eve with a medley of chamber music sets featuring DPO musicians. The evening rises with a dynamic brass/sax/piano piece by modern composer James Stephenson. Audience favorite Voice of the Wood, a string sextet led by concertmaster Katherine Thayer, shines on Song to the Moon from Rusalka and other contemporary works featuring Kimberly Brody (principal oboe). The evening sets with the string ensemble performing a bright, new orchestration of Dvořák’s third String Quintet.
The Denver Philharmonic Orchestra is an internationally award-winning community orchestra serving musicians in and around Denver. Helmed by Music Director Lawrence Golan, approximately 80% of their musicians are volunteers—serving the community as doctors, lawyers, architects and teachers in their “day jobs”. They’re also incredibly proud to be a home for budding professional musicians to hone their craft and to provide them with opportunities to be featured soloists in main stage concerts, perform overseas with professional orchestras, and offer chances to shine in small ensembles at the DPO With a Twist chamber series.
