Eddie Palmieri Sextet: 80th Birthday Celebration / Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Fund | Nov 16 & 17
Known as one of the finest pianists of the past 60 years, 10-time Grammy® winner Eddie Palmieri is a bandleader, arranger and composer of salsa and Latin jazz. His percussive playing skillfully fuses the rhythm of his Puerto Rican heritage with the complexity of his Cuban music and jazz influences: Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock, Peruchín, Lily Martínez, McCoy Tyner as well as his older brother, Charlie Palmieri.
In the fall of 2016, Palmieri recorded seven classic songs to be included in an interactive audio app available in 2017. Eddie Palmieri will celebrate his 80th Birthday on December 15, 2016.
All of Eddie Palmieri’s new music will be released in successive volumes commemorating his 80th Year along with a tour entitled “EP @ 80.”
