In his book “The Gatekeepers: How the White House Chiefs of Staff Define Every Presidency,” Chris Whipple makes it clear that the White House Gatekeepers control not only access to the president, but they also clearly help define the presidents governing agenda.

In “Gatekeepers” Whipple focuses on Chiefs of Staff, in administrations from Nixon to Obama. And he speculates at book’s end on how President Trumps Gatekeeper or Gatekeepers will serve him.
