Political scientist and historian Archie Brown, America’s Professor of Politics at Oxford, a man who’s examined politics and political leadership worldwide for more than four decades, and the author of the best selling book The Rise and Fall of Communism, has written a new book, “The Myth of The Strong Leader: Political Leadership in The Modern Age.” The book is a clear winner.

Brown does an excellent job of letting the reader know early on that leadership can not be reduced to a simple one word assessment, such as strong versus weak. It is those political leaders who are best able to affect dramatic change according to Brown, and who are people who understand the importance of collaboration as they work through that change who are true strong leaders.
