Dates to know for the 2020 General Election
On October 9, ballots were sent in the mail to registered voters across Colorado. Many voters have already received their ballot, and some have cast their votes.
Colorado is one of the handful of states that automatically sends ballots to all registered voters. Several other states are adopting a similar model this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
If you would like to track your ballot, sign up for BallotTrax here. If you are a Denver voter, you can update your ballot tracing information here.
The deadline to mail the ballots is October 26. But of course, that’s not the only way to vote in Colorado. Here are some important dates to remember as we approach Election Day, which is November 3 this year.
October 19
This is the first day that Voter Services and Polling Centers open statewide.
October 19 is also the first day that early voting begins for people who wish to vote in-person. You do not have to give a reason to vote early. Early voting runs until November 2. To find an early voting location, contact your county clerk and recorder’s office.
If you vote in Denver, here is a list of voting locations and 24-hour ballot drop boxes.
October 26
This is the last day to register to vote and still receive a ballot in the mail. The Colorado Secretary of State’s office says after this date, voters should go to a drop box or voting location to deliver their ballot.
October 26 is also the last day to register to vote online or by mail. If you register by mail, it must be postmarked by October 26.
Colorado is one of the states that allows people to register to vote as late as Election Day. If you wait until then to register, you will have to do so in-person at a voter service and polling center in your county.
November 3
Election Day! All ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. by your county clerk. If you opt to vote in person, you will be able to vote as long as you are in line by 7:00 p.m.
