On, Friday, July 12 at 10:30 a.m. Denver native and conductress of The Gospel Train, Deborah Walker joins host Tree King on Community Connection. Miss Walker will be talking about her involvement with the 38th annual Colorado Black Arts Festival (CBAF) happening this weekend at City Park West.

Deborah has coordinated the Gospel Stage for many years and this year will co-host with Bernard Westly, as the Kumba Stage transitions to Gospel.

The CBAF continuously develops, promotes, and celebrates Black Arts and Culture in Colorado and this year, with a “Rebirth” theme. The festival welcomes the community to this free event for everyone to enjoy and includes food courts, visual artists, performers, a children’s pavilion, and much more.

That’s today, Saturday, and Sunday starting at 11 a.m. each day.

Also joining Tree in the studio, during the 11 o’clock hour; is the bandleader of The Delta Sonics, Al Chesis, and vocalist, songwriter, recording artist, and actress Erica Brown.

Al Chesis supplies vocals & foot stomping showmanship but it’s his harmonica playing that grabs you. He has been a Hohner harmonica endorser since 1992. The Delta Sonics have been playing in Colorado since 1992 and have established themselves as one of the finest blues acts in the area with their solid musicianship and exciting live performances. They have opened for BB King, Robert Cray, and Jimmy Vaughn, among many others. The Delta Sonics have been awarded the “Favorite Blues Band” as well as “Favorite Blues Duo” by the Colorado Blues Society in 2023 & 2024.

Erica Brown has been a mainstay in Colorado’s music scene. From 1998-2008 as the front woman for the award-winning Erica Brown Band electrified audiences all over the Rocky Mountain region. Miss Brown has been awarded the Colorado Blues Society’s “Best Blues Vocalist” in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2018!!

The Delta Sonics featuring Erica Brown are performing at City Park Jazz at the Pavilion stage on Sunday, July 14 from 6 to 8 p.m.
