Colorado native, Flo Hernandez-Ramos joined Tree King today on Community Connection. In the 70s Flo was involved in the Chicano Student Movement at the University of Colorado Boulder. In 1983, Flo, along with hundreds of others, helped found public radio KUVO 89.3 FM and for 24 years she was its President and CEO.

During that time, along with other volunteers, she hosted, Cancion Mexicana a program dubbed the spiciest show on the radio by the Denver Post, offering the listening audience a mix of Colorado, New Mexico, and Tejano music. It’s still on the air every Sunday morning for over 39 years!

“It was a joy and I feel honored to have Flo as my guest on Latina Day!” —Tree King

Tree chatted with Flo about the Latina community and things in her heritage that are important to her.
