Celebrating Tenia Renee Nelson—Women’s History Month

We celebrate Tenia Renee Nelson on Women’s History Month.

As a pianist, percussionist, composer and arranger, and educator, Tenia Renee Nelson has 19+ years teaching experience in all levels of education (Early Childhood through University). At the present time, she teaches music at Denver Language School, privately in her music studio and classes at Neighborhood Music at Stanley Marketplace.

Tenia performs regularly at jazz venues in the Denver metro area, including Dazzle at Baur’s, Nocturne, and the Crimson Room. As a freelance music artist, she plays all types of music!

Leader of the well-known Denver-based jazz group, “Spherio,” which focuses on arranging and playing the music of Thelonious Sphere Monk (Tenia Nelson, keys; Bob Songster, bass; and Andreas Schmid, drums). Nelson also leads a group called Tenia Nelson Trio (Tenia Nelson, keys; Brendan O’ Donoghue, bass; Alex Tripp, drums). She performs with Brass and Gold Society (Hip Hop, Banda, Soul, Funk, Jazz) as well as Jon Romero and Amanacer (Latin). KUVO JAZZ features Tenia’s music as well as music from Spherio!
