Celebrating Dexter Gordon
Tune in as we celebrate the music of Dexter Gordon throughout the day!
Dexter Gordon was an American jazz tenor saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and actor.
He was one of the leading bebop tenor saxophonists, with his near-vibratoless sound and prodigious ability to improvise early bebop musicians, which included other greats such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Bud Powell, and a strong influence on the tenor saxophonists who came after bebop, especially Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane.
