Celebrating 36 Years On-Air!
Every day at KUVO is filled with musical discovery! Nearly every set on KUVO has something you’ve probably never heard before, whatever the genre. In jazz, young players tackle the standards in exciting, vibrant ways. The Jazz Masters you hear on KUVO keep pushing out new compositions. And some of us just like hearing the classics that we haven’t heard in way too long!
Some shows are devoted to what’s new: Jazz Odyssey (Monday through Thursday, 10 pm to midnight) and Super Sonido (Sundays at 4 pm).
We are most proud of building a legacy of live performance for the music on KUVO. While our archives are full of live recordings at KUVO’s radio studios and venues across Denver and Colorado, our new digs at 21st and Arapahoe in downtown Denver hold the most potential!
The Greg Gisbert Quintet inaugurated live jazz in the Masterpiece Studio, to be heard on an upcoming episode of On Stage (Saturdays at 10 pm and Mondays at 7 pm).
KUVO’s Bonfils-Stanton Performance Studio is still under construction. And the Rooftop is a secret weapon with untold potential. We’re also excited about our new state-of-the-art remote broadcast capabilities, so we’re all looking forward to more live music from more places around Colorado!
In this age of everything moving so fast, having a solid and diverse music format in place for 36 years is significant and worthy of a celebration! Be sure to tune in this Sunday, August 29 for an all-day birthday celebration for KUVO!
The Gospel Train (Sunday, 8 am) is taking you all the way back to 1985 to play the gospel music of that year! Canción Mexicana (Sunday, 9 am to 1 pm) host Debra Gallegos says she’ll present a Puro Birthday Party and a look into the music over the years. Pocho Joe (Denver’s Best Radio Host – Westword Magazine) hosts La Raza Rocks (Sunday, 1 pm), he will play Ozomatli’s “So It’s Your Birthday.” Pocho’s wish: “ Con-glad-uations, KUVO!” Janine Santana intends to get you dancing and feasting on Salsa Con Jazz (2 pm). On The Nightside (Sunday, 8 pm), host Andy O’ knows well that Charlie Parker shares the August 29 birthday, and therefore will be playing “The Bird.”
More than anything, KUVO is a celebration of music every day! Thank you for tuning in!
