Carlos Lando and Fred Wesley catch up before Dazzle sets August 28-29
Coming out of Mobile, Alabama, if you want to make it as a jazz trombonist, you head to L.A. The problem was that there were too many good trombonists already on the scene. So young Fred Wesley took a job with the James Brown band, and the rest is funk history.
Trombonist Fred Wesley brings his band “The New JBs” to Denver on a summer tour of the Western U.S., including Dazzle in Denver August 28-29 (two shows nightly). It’s been years since Fred was in Denver (he lived in the Mile High City in the early 90s).
Below is the audio of a conversation with KUVO Morning Set host Carlos Lando and Wesley. They discuss some of Fred Wesley’s journey as the world’s most famous funk trombonist.
