Freddy Cole Quartet will pay homage to what would have Nat King Cole’s 100th birthday. Freddy Cole grew up in a musical family. His mother taught music to him and his older siblings. Cole’s older brother was Nat “King” Cole, who was 14 years older than Freddy. Cole is 86 now and he’s playing a tribute to the musical legacy of his older brother.

Cole, a jazz pianist and vocalist, has had an astounding career, independent of his more famous brother. Cole attended Juilliard and the New England Conservatory. The idea of love’s power is something that runs through a lot of the songs Cole sings. He’s a believer that the world can always use a little more love and romance, and that these sophisticated songs are an excellent way to encourage it. He’s humble, mellow and soulful, a true entertainer. His smooth, conversational vocal style is — as with many of the greats — a thing that appears and sounds effortless, but is the product of a lifetime of mastery.
