Caatinga Blues was established and conceptualized in 2010. The name is a reference to a very dry and poor region in Brazil where baiao reigns sovereignly. The band’s initial concept was to bridge baiao with some other American music styles, but throughout the years, this concept evolved to encompass several other Brazilian rhythms with a distinct convergence of sonic universes. Brazilian guitarists Cesar Cavalcanti and Julio Berlingeri meld standards and originals with Afro-Cuban rhythms and other world beats.

With unique arrangements on their guitars – and dishing up Jazz with tasty Samba, Bossa, and Latin flavors – the duo performs regularly throughout the greater Denver metro area and occasionally features other top-notch local guest musicians in their shows.
