In its fourth year as a non-profit organization, the Aurora Cultural Arts District celebrates with the Aurora Arts Festival on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fletcher Plaza, 9898 East Colfax Avenue, Aurora, Colo. 80010.  The District’s Development Director Carolyn Bartels visited “First Take with Lando and Chavis.”

“We have everything from Kim Robards Dance to the Fox Theatre to the Vintage Theatre, and many, many, many fine artists,” said Bartels.  ”The District has been growing and growing, trying to celebrate the vibrancy of the neighborhood.”

Feeding Aurora’s arts renaissance may be its diversity, says Bartels.  ”There are 121 languages and dialects spoken in the public school system.  It’s like the entire globe in a very narrow area of Aurora.”

An eight-story mural will be under development during the Aurora Arts Fest, inspired by the Aurora Borealis and created by Michael Ortiz and Jonathan Lamb.  The festival has expanded to two stages this year.  The line up of performances is online at www.auroraculture.org.

Music on this feature by Fuller Sound, from the 2000 CD Eternal Journey, made up of the Aurora-based Fuller family (Elthopia, Tia, Shamie Fuller-Royston, Frederick, and Rudy Royston).
