Vibraphonist Nikara Warren’s sophomore recording “NIKARA Presents Black Wall Street-The Queen of Kings County” is an uplifting celebration of her hometown, Brooklyn New York.

Warren’s influences range from hip-hop, Afro-Latin, Afro-Caribbean, neo-soul, and jazz. She is the granddaughter of jazz maestro Sir Kenny Barron, who is also featured on the song “Stratford Penthouse.” The influences culled from growing up in an extended multi-generational home and poignant expressions of her experiences and struggles as an African-American woman in the 21st century are also explored in one of the best recordings of 2024.
