A Deep-Dive of the 2024 Jazz Aspen Snowmass June Experience!
For over 30 years, The Jazz Aspen Snowmass has been bringing world-class performances to the high-country. With a mission to present and preserve jazz and related forms of music, The JAS organization is about to celebrate their 32nd season with a diverse line-up and an opportunity for young musicians to study under the JAS Academy
The Jazz Aspen Snowmass is split into two different musical weekends – Labor Day Weekend, running August 30 through September 1, and the June Experience, running June 20 through the 23. The Jazz Aspen Snowmass June Experience has a focus on musical discovery – a variety of acts are spread walking-distance across small venues in the city of Aspen. This year’s line-up has a wide-range of genres like Jazz, Blues, Soul, Funk, World, NOLA, Gospel and more!

President and CEO of Jazz Aspen Snowmass Jim Horowitz takes his time to curate a line-up of musicians with the hope that attendees will walk away with new discoveries. When considering artists for the line-up, Jim stays on his feet and waits for body to move, to dance! He says he is essentially wanting to “fall in love” with the music. In anticipation for this summer festival, I chatted with him about what goes into the selection process, about a few of the acts that caught my eyes and ears, and about the mentoring program available to students at the 32nd season of the Jazz Aspen Snowmass June Experience!
