A Blind Tiger Tribute to Charles Mingus | Apr 8
Gift of Jazz Blind Tiger Series presents intimate gatherings of jazz fans who come together to share not just the music, but also the stories behind the music, as presented by talented local jazz artists.
Combining the sounds of blues, gospel, modern classical and traditional jazz, the deeply talented Charles Mingus was an innovative composer, bassist, bandleader and recording artist who defined the hard bop era perhaps more than any other artist. From Ah Um and beyond: The Matt Smiley Quartet will be paying homage to the eternal coolness, creativity, and unrelenting moxy of Mr. Mingus at our next Blind Tiger event!
