Caffè Sole welcomes the return of Raul Murciano and the Colorado Mambo Orchestra. They play the traditional music of Cuba…think the Buena Vista Social Club and Mambo. Mambo jazz emerged in Cuba in the 1930s but was popularized in Mexico City and New York. It blends jazz harmonies and instrumentation with Afro-Cuban rhythms.
Mambo was all the rage in New York City in the late 1940s and 50s and is alive and well in SoBo at Caffè Sole!
Miami-born world-famous composer, pianist, and orchestrator, Dr. Raúl Murciano, Jr., was an Associate Dean of Administration at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. He is an award-winning writer and producer of music for television and film. Dr. Murciano’s earliest successes came as a founding member and performer with Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine and additionally he is a very accomplished painter…in his spare time.
