The Jazz River — Voodoo Children
From Miles Davis to Ernie Isley, from George Clinton, from Robin Trower, from Lenny Kravitz to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Cassandra Wilson or Emmylou Harris, Hendrix’s influence is incredibly wide, deep, and durable still more than 50 years after his untimely death. Anyone who picked up a Stratocaster guitar and began using feedback and the wah-wah pedal has had to contend with Jimi. Probably no one before or since has had a profound impact on the possibilities of the electric guitar as Jimi Hendrix.
There are at least three kinds of tributes; the ones that celebrate his compositions, the ones that regale in his guitar mastery, and the ones that try to explore the sonic worlds he opened up.
Tune in on Sunday, April 24 at 5 pm for Voodoo Children when The Jazz River explores all three tributes. Only on KUVO JAZZ.
