The Annual Christmas Edition of New Music Monday

We close out New Music Monday for 2021 with our annual Holiday Music Edition!

Arturo Gómez will debut the latest holiday music arrivals to the KUVO JAZZ library and provide a few tidbits about the artists in particular if it’s a new or up and coming artist.

New Music Monday 2022 will return on January 10, to kick off another year of premieres.

This year’s holiday music premieres will include:

Jeff Hamilton Trio: “Merry & Bright”
The always swingin’ Jeff Hamilton Trio releases their first Christmas music recording and it’s on Colorado own’s Capri Records! One of jazz’s top drummers Jeff is joined by his long-time accompanists, Tamir Hendelman-piano and Jon Hamar-bass. In addition to 7 holiday standards, the trio offers up 3 obscure tunes from Christmas past.

Norah Jones: “I Dream of Christmas”
For her initial recording of holiday music, Norah Jones composed 6 original tunes, plays piano and organ and sings 7 other tunes from the Christmas music canon. Norah includes performances in a trio, with horns, strings and 1 track with pedal steel guitar.

Benny Benack III & the Steven Feifke Big Band: “Season’s Swingin’ Greetings”
The popular trumpeter and vocalist out of Pittsburgh, PA teams up with the Steven Feifke Big Band for their first Christmas album. Both Benack III and Feifke had successful releases earlier in 2021 so this pairing is sure to continue to win over fans for both. Benny wrote 2 originals and Steven added another to their playlist for this splendid new recording.
