This show will focus on iconic music that was born in the ‘60s, with selections from the albums of John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk and others. The selections include a mix of later bebop, modal jazz and select ballads. The music of this era, which could be innovative and intense, was nevertheless full of emotion and epitomized the best of 20th century jazz.
Harry Drabkin – sax; Derek Banach – trumpet; Jeff Jenkins – piano; Brian Claxton – drums; and Andrew Rose – bass; each highly accomplished in their own right, will blend their talents to play the music they love and touch the hearts of the audience.
Saxophonist Harry Drabkin is a Berklee College of Music graduate as well as a faculty alumni where he performed in the Recording Band, Faculty Jazz Ensemble and more. His influences come from Miles, Coltrane, Cannonball and Charlie Mariano.
