The Juneteenth Music Festival is back—On the street and broadcasting live!
The weekend kicks off on Friday, June 18, with the R&B Summer Kickoff, an outdoor concert experience headlined by a nationally featured artist,”112″ at Levitt Pavilion Denver.
Juneteenth Eve Broadcast | June 18 | 2 – 8 pm
JMF Corporation and Denver Community Media, hosts a 6-hour broadcast on Friday, June 18, featuring an array of entertainment with special guests, highlights of the upcoming weekend’s Welton Street festival, the Annual Dream Big Awards, 112 concert ticket giveaways and more! Starting at 2 pm, the program can be viewed on Denver Community Media TV channels Comcast 56 & 881HD. Juneteenth Parade |Saturday, June 19 | 9 am Staging | 11 am Start

Nearly 3,000 people march in the Juneteenth Parade to honor the struggles and social progress achieved through marches and demonstrations organized for freedom, justice, and equality in our country’s history.

This year, Denver’s historic Juneteenth Street Festival includes 10 city blocks of artisan merchants, food vendors and interactive activities flanked by performance stages and the Juneteenth Kids Zone. Activated spaces of this year’s street festivities will include music and entertainment at the Welton Street Corridor, Charles Cousins Plaza, and Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theater.

Hosted by Big J & Shay Johnson our street festival will feature live performances by: DJ Jazzy Jeff, Check-Tet, A Meazy, Conjuntes Colores, NatVSon, The Deadly Penz, DJ Simone Says, DJ Ktone, DJ Squizzy, DJ brother jeff’s Cultural Experience, DJ 4M, THE DROP’s DJ Bella Scratch and DJ Difrent, KUVO JAZZ’s Latin Soul Party, DJ Ricky O.
Denver Black Pride at Charles Cousins Plaza:
This famed plaza is named after the late Denverite; Charles Cousins. Cousins was a highly regarded entrepreneur and real estate mogul known for leading the charge in affordable housing for Denver’s Black community. Cousins passed away in 2009 at the age of 91. In partnership with The Center on Colfax, producer of Denver’s Black Pride Festival, Juneteenth Music Festival will activate this space with the celebratory sounds of live musicians and DJ sets.
Five Points of Culture at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theater:
Denver’s historic Cleo Parker Robinson Dance has been a cultural epicenter for the arts for over 50 years, displaying exemplary community standing as a 501c3 nonprofit and providing enriching experiences and curriculum for the community. Cleo Parker Robinson Dance will be the home for educational panels and round tables during the Festival, as well as the Juneteenth Museum highlighting seven decades of the iconic Five Points celebration. What is Juneteenth?
Juneteenth celebrates the day African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Celebrated in cities across the country, Denver is home to the Juneteenth Music Festival, a dynamic community event which annually attracts 50,000 people. In 2021, Juneteenth was recognized as a commemorative holiday by Denver City Council. To learn more about the history, click here.
